The first time I came across chocolate wrappers was in 2022, and I wanted to learn how to do it. I even ordered 200 photo papers from a lady that was selling it and was so excited. To my shock my prints did not come out well, the ink ran on all the prints, it did not matter which printer settings I used.

I asked for help on the printing WhatsApp group and even the lady that I bought the paper from, but nothing helped. The lady insisted that she uses it everyday on her inkjet printer and the ink does not run. I thought that my printer was not compatible, so I stopped trying.

In September 2023 one of my clients asked me if I do the chocolate wrappers as she was looking for chocolate wrappers for that Christmas. I said I did try but it did not work but it’s a good time to try again.

I tried again with the same paper, but the same thing happened as before, and I asked for help again on the printing WhatsApp group and someone recommended that I buy other paper as maybe the paper that I bought was for laser printers and not for inkjet printers. I bought new paper and this time it came out perfectly!

I bought a few 2 finger Kit Kat designs for Teachers from somebody else, but it was too big and there were parts on the designs that I did not want on it. I asked the designer to remove those parts for me, and she said that I must pay for the changes. Then I decided I must do my own designs!

I was looking for templates but everything I could find was in inches and that does not work here in South Africa. I sat down and made my own Canva templates. I measured, designed, test printed – back to changing the design, test print etc. It went on for days but finally I got it right and it worked well. Next was the mockup – same story. Doing research, watching countless YouTube videos, trying, failing, trying again until I got it right.

At the end of 2023 I had a 2- & 4 finger Kit Kat- and the 80g chocolate slab wrapper drag and drop Canva templates that I used myself. In the beginning of 2024, I saw that people were looking for templates for chocolate wrappers, and I could not find anything apart from generic templates but that did not work for me. I decided to sell my templates to help other people design their own wrappers.

When I did designs with my templates for advertising purposes people asked me if they could buy my designs. At first, I did not want to do that as I did not want to compete with the other designers. I only want to sell my Canva templates, but my husband said: “Well, if they want to buy your designs why not sell it to them?” There my journey started with the print-ready wrappers that I sell today.
